WHAT’S INCLUDED
IN YOUR PERSONALIZED PREP

PERSONALIZED HYPOXIC PROGRAM

An individualized hypoxic training and pre-acclimatization strategy based on your mountain objective, preparation timeline, training status, previous altitude experience, and physiological response.

Relevant data may include sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability, SpO₂ response to hypoxia, training load, recovery, and subjective wellbeing.

DATA TRACKING AND MONITORING

Tools to track your physiological response to training and hypoxic exposure and help guide adjustments throughout your preparation.

Your data, training load, recovery, and adaptation trends are reviewed together to support informed adjustments to your individual protocol.

HYPOXIC EQUIPMENT

Equipment for controlled hypoxic exposure at home, when required as part of your preparation strategy.

Equipment options, delivery, rental, and purchase availability vary by country.

1

Portable Hypoxic Tent

Allows controlled overnight exposure to simulated altitude at home.

2

Hypoxic Generator

Creates a controlled low-oxygen environment corresponding to different simulated altitudes, depending on the equipment configuration.

3

Breathing Circuit

Connects the hypoxic generator to the breathing interface during selected training sessions.

4

Mask

Used with the generator for controlled hypoxic exposure during appropriate training sessions.

5

Fingertip Pulse Oximeter

Tracks peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and heart rate during selected hypoxic sessions.

PERSONALIZED PHYSICAL TRAINING PROGRAM

Your training program is built around your current fitness, physiological profile, expedition demands, available preparation time, and recovery capacity.

Training load is adjusted as your preparation progresses and your response to training changes.

PERSONALIZED NUTRITION STRATEGY

An individualized nutrition strategy designed to support your training load, energy availability, recovery, and expedition preparation.

Recommendations are adapted to your current training phase, dietary preferences, and individual needs.

SPORTS NUTRITION AND SUPPLEMENT STRATEGY

An individualized approach to sports nutrition and supplementation based on your training demands, nutritional status, available laboratory information, and expedition goals.

Supplements are recommended only when appropriate and should complement — not replace — a well-balanced nutrition strategy.

HEALTH AND READINESS ASSESSMENT

Recommendations for relevant health screening before your expedition, taking into account your objective, medical history, previous altitude experience, and planned level of exertion.

Where laboratory or medical findings require diagnosis, treatment, prescription, or medical clearance, these should be reviewed with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Your health information can then be taken into account when adapting your training, nutrition, recovery, and altitude-preparation strategy.

RECOVERY PROTOCOL DURING AND AFTER THE CLIMB

A personalized selection of hardware-based recovery methods and biohacking, plus peptide therapy

PSYCHOLOGICAL PREPARATION

A personalized selection of self-regulation techniques and practice for emergency situations

KNOW WHEN YOU’RE READY

KNOW WHEN YOU’RE READY

OWNTOP’s preparation criteria give you objective benchmarks to assess whether your physical preparation is aligned with the demands of your planned climb.

IRINA ZELENKOVA

METHODOLOGIST AND FOUNDER OF OWNTOP. EXPERT IN ALTITUDE PREPARATION, SPORTS MEDICINE PHYSICIAN, PH.D.

Everest summiteer. For over 15 years, she has trained Olympic and world championship medalists, as well as expeditions to the world’s highest peaks and the poles.

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Do you guarantee that I’ll reach the summit?

No. No preparation program can guarantee a successful summit. Weather, route conditions, illness, individual response to altitude, expedition logistics, and other factors can all influence the outcome.

What we can do is help you prepare systematically — physically, physiologically, and mentally — and give you the knowledge and tools to better understand your condition, recognize warning signs, and make more informed decisions in the mountains.

I’m worried I won’t be able to complete the climb

That concern is common, especially when you’re preparing for a new altitude or a more demanding objective.

OWNTOP gives you a structured, step-by-step preparation framework covering physical training, altitude preparation, nutrition and recovery, mental preparation, equipment, and altitude safety.

The goal is to help you arrive with a clearer understanding of what to expect and how to prepare for the demands of your specific objective.

I’m worried that my health or physical condition might let me down

The program includes a health screening checklist that you can discuss with your doctor before beginning your preparation.

It also helps you assess your current physical readiness and identify areas that may need additional attention before your expedition.

If you have an existing medical condition, concerning symptoms, or questions about whether a particular climb is appropriate for you, medical evaluation and clearance should come from a qualified healthcare professional.

I’ve already had an unsuccessful climb. Can I prepare differently next time?

Yes. A previous unsuccessful attempt does not necessarily mean that the same outcome will happen again.

We look at factors that can influence an expedition outcome — such as physical preparation, ascent profile, acclimatization strategy, previous altitude response, recovery, nutrition, psychological readiness, and expedition demands.

Understanding what happened previously can help you build a more individualized preparation strategy for your next objective.

I’ve previously experienced HAPE or HACE. Can I return to high altitude?

A previous episode of high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) or high-altitude cerebral edema (HACE) is medically significant and should be evaluated before another high-altitude expedition.

Before returning to altitude, we recommend discussing your history and future plans with a physician experienced in altitude medicine or an appropriate specialist.

If you are medically cleared to return to altitude, your preparation can then take your previous episode into account. This may include a more conservative ascent and acclimatization strategy, individualized pre-acclimatization where appropriate, closer monitoring, and a clear emergency and descent plan.

OWNTOP can support the preparation and performance aspects of this process, but it does not replace medical evaluation or medical clearance.
